Various peoples have left their mark on Ibiza over the centuries, leaving behind truly ancient folklore. The "ball pagès", or country dance, a typical island dance is one in which a man invites a woman to dance to the rhythm of castanets. The dancers are dressed in traditional costumes and wear traditional jewellery.

This traditional dance is performed in the majority of town festivals and on local holiday days.
